Action Plan
Developmental Psychology Group

Based on a substantial review of literature regarding comprehensive instruction for developmental (senior seminar and abnormal) or lifespan courses we have identified 5 areas for diversity infusion. Those areas are:

1. Culture
2. Socioeconomic Status
3. Early Childhood and Learning in the Cultural Context
4. Attachment
5. Identity Development

 Project Goals

There are two primary goals of this project:

Assess how much the students already know regarding the way culture and context influence development.

In order to achieve this, we will run a pre/post-test assessment in the fall before we launch the use or our DIP learning modules in the spring. This initial assessment will tell us what knowledge/ understanding our students are coming into our classes with and how much diversity or cultural context is already emphasized in our current courses. We will use this information to further tailor our modules.

Assess the effectiveness the effectiveness of strategic and purposeful diversity infusion in the curriculum, via our five learning modules.

This pre/post-test assessment will be done in the spring. Creating two phases of assessment will give us a valuable baseline to interpret the hopeful increase in student understanding of culture and context in development.
