Work in this category demonstrates how I have used writing to advocate and to gain influence. The pieces focus specifically on social responsibility, sustainability, and human rights issues.

The first three documents in this section showcase how I have used rhetorical stratagies to identify and understand each audience, developing persuasive arguments to then target them specifically. Because some of these documents were actually sent to the intended audience, I had to carefully consider my language, tone, and voice so that my ideas were presented in a way that was meaningful but still respectful.

Advocacy writing is the genre in which I have most strongly developed my professional identity. Using rhetorical strategies to advocate, to promote change, and to address social issues has been the most fulfilling part of my writing career. While issues are often complex, I have learned how to use rhetorical strategies to analyze problems, develop solutions, and then present these ideas in a meaningful way.
