One of the key tenets of an Elon education is experiential learning. Since my first year on campus, I have immersed myself in the Elon campus community and its surrounding area. The projects in this section represent my work for internal Elon organizations and our community partners.

The first section, Public Health Studies (PHS), contains two documents I worked on with a group to market the new PHS major to the student body. We worked closely with a client, the director of the major, to determine what types of marketing materials were the best fit for the program and its needs. We created a tri-fold board to be set up at College Coffee, career fairs, and other campus-wide events to draw students over to the table to learn more about the major. We also provided her with suggestions for redesigning the website to include new material about the major.

In my teaching English to speakers of other languages service-learning class, I worked closely with the kindergarten ESL teacher to better integrate writing into the ESL curriculum. The prompts I created for each unit of the curriculum reflect a semester of working with the teacher to understand how the classes are structured, and getting to know the students and their academic needs. I utilized best practices for teaching ESL learned in class by incorporating visuals, vocabulary assistance, and building connections to real-world situations.

The third section encompasses my current work as the International Trips Director of the Alternative Breaks program through Elon Volunteers!. This leadership position has provided me with professional experience in student life, as I worked closely with my supervisor to create learning outcomes for students traveling on international spring break programs. We also worked on creating a professional brand for the organization and making it known to students and staff. These documents represent how I synthesize my writing skills and rhetorical strategies into a real-world professional setting.
