Writing Collaboratively

Writing collaboratively is a component of my education that I will always treasure. Through my Professional Writing and Rhetoric studies, I have developed the skill of collaborating effectively-- a skill that has not only enhanced my academic career, but that I have exercised in my internship experiences, and will undoubtedly use in the workplace come graduation. Through the collaborative projects that I have contributed to, both through my coursework and internship experiences, I have learned essential group communication tactics, and feel comfortable working with fellow group members to achieve a common goal. In this section of my portfolio, I have included four different writing projects that I have worked on collaboratively. The Qanda Wiley Intern Project Written Plan exemplifies group work completed during my internship with John Wiley & Sons this past summer, while the ENG 313SL projects exemplify two different collaborative grant proposals written during the fall of my senior year. The CUPID Sociology Book documents display the collaborative work done in my CUPID Studio class during the fall of my senior year. Each of these various projects taught me about collaboration in a different way; some posed communicative issues with group members that I had to overcome; others demonstrated how intricate writing collaboratively can be. Within Professional Writing and Rhetoric, there is a focus on collaboration that I will take with me in future endeavors. I hope that this section demonstrates my understanding of collaboration through my coursework at Elon, and how I have demonstrated that in work outside of Elon.
