Writing as Organizational Communication

This section includes documents that I have created as a result of an organizational analysis. Using a rhetorical perspective, I analyzed two different organizations to understand their organizational identity and the ways that their organization functions. Both of the documents' purposes are twofold: 1) to convey the results of a rhetorical analysis of the organization, and 2) to do so in a manner that is visually appealing and rhetorically affective so that the organizations actually read the information I delivered.

Although the first document is solely the result of an analysis fo the Council for Pograms in Technical & Scientific Communication, it still manages to display my skills in organizational analysis and my visual rhetoric abilities, as I created a layout that clearly displayed infomation and that did so in a way that is aesthetically pleasing.

The Association of Business Communication Rack Cards display not only my ability to perform an orgnaizational analysis, but also my skills in rhetorical analysis of marketing documents. Furthermore, the development of the rack cards show my skills in a rhetorical implementation of these analytical conclusions.

Writing as a form of organizational communication requires a keen sense of audience and an ability to apply appropriate rhetorical approaches for the purposes of engaging and informing your organizational audience. These goals come through in my documents.
